Sometimes I'd like to ask God why He allows poverty, famine, and injustice in the world when He could do something about it. But I'm afraid God might ask me the same question.

Waiting by the phone

Well, it's 5:00 on Friday and we haven't gotten the exciting phone call yet :) This has been me the past week! It sounds like our court date on February 11th went well and the courts accepted the oh-so-important Gambella paperwork. We are just waiting for them to assign us the "real" court date so we can go meet the kids!! We did hear great news today that the families who didn't pass court received new dates. Good luck to those families and we'll be keeping you in our prayers! For those of us who haven't travelled yet, they keep saying "any day!" So, hopefully we'll be posting great news next week!

Truly Blessed!

During every step of this adoption, we have been amazed at the friends that have gone above and beyond and helped us on this journey! Well, I'm here to brag on one more friend!

Sharon is the mother of a beautiful little girl from Ethiopia. She also does fundraising for an incredible organization called Sacred Selections. They give grants to Christian families to help alleviate the expenses of the agency and legal fees. They have already helped 35 families adopt from the United States and several different countries. Sharon has been asking me for over a year why we don't apply for a grant. And, of course, I've had lots of excuses :) They finally twisted our arms and I am so glad they did!! We received a phone call Sunday night and they would like to give us a very generous grant. Thank you Sharon and thank you Dana and Sacred Selections for all that you have done to bring these precious kids home!

And with that...

I'd love to promote their next fundraiser here in the Dallas area!

28 minutes!

It has been two days of cleaning, scrubbing, and hiding things in the closet for the update to our home study. Our social worker came in, sat on our couch, reviewed our last home study and asked for any changes. That was it! She was gone in twenty-eight minutes and never looked around the house :) Oh well! Today I can sit back and relax now that is over!

We also had an appointment for our fingerprints to be checked again by USCIS. And guess what? We woke up to a layer of snow on the roads and lots of sleet. All the schools are closed and we weren't sure if the USCIS office was open. We could only find a number to the national office and couldn't reach a real person. On our appointment notice it said "if you fail to appear as scheduled, your application will be considered abandoned." Pretty serious stuff. So, we bundled up and headed out to see if it was open. And it was!!! I was so excited! This means we'll get our updated I-171H in time for court.

Two days away from our first court date! I need to stop obsessing over this. I keep checking the calender, checking the time in Ethiopia, and calculating how much longer we have. We would love to hear our real court date on Friday, but I probably shouldn't get my hopes up. IF everything is approved, it might be next week before we hear. We're not even sure if MOWA has all the information they need. Lots to pray about!
